Almost 20% of the 1,5 million Syrian refugees in Lebanon live in Informal Tented Settlements (ITS) in the Bekaa Valley. This situation implies a deteriorating pressure on local resources, where job opportunities and access to public infrastructures are decreasing. The increasing impoverishment of the Lebanese population and the high vulnerability among refugees are generating high levels of indebtedness and deteriorating living conditions. The project’s aim is to develop vocational training paths based on the local labour market demand, within a clear planning for local development – thus, including Municipalities and Civil Society Organisations. Training and professional orientation services are created through “Rapid Employment” schemes, especially for youth, which enable both Lebanese and Syrians to apply for infrastructural jobs, useful for the community.
